We shot ourselves in the foot to save our client’s client almost $600K – A local law firm called to get a quote on a job. They estimated over 1.3 million pages, with full bibliographic coding, OCR and a blowback. WOW! That’s a pretty strong job. Back in 2005, a job like that was worth about $600K and would keep us busy for a couple of months. As we discussed the project plan, they clarified that we would be doing the blowback first! Huh? It turned out the source documents were emails and digitally-born documents. Having been on the leading edge of Electronic Document Discovery technologies, the team patiently explained the new technology to our client. We explained that there were a number of great benefits of using EDD processing, including significant cost and time savings, and the robustness of the full-text capabilities. Once they found out that the processing would cost less than $10K and could be completed in under a week, they were on board. And their clients enjoyed the savings!
We saved our client’s bacon…and made them heroes – One of our regular law firm clients was in a bind. They were working on a delicate lawsuit representing a government agency. They needed to review and produce hundreds of thousands of personnel files. But there were three problems: 1) The client demanded that the original files be reviewed or copied within their building…in a conference room that could barely hold the boxes and, 2) due to the nature of the case, the firm was told that the client must review everyone who was going to see the files to make sure they were not in any way related to individuals involved in the case or any prior employees of the government. And, 3) they were given a highly compressed timeframe to complete the work. VeBridge assembled a team of professionals with no connections to the matter, moved equipment and people into what was left of the conference room, and went to work. Hundreds of thousands of pages of evidence were captured and coded at competitive rates. In fact, the firm began reviewing the documents within days of the project’s inception. Their client was convinced that their law firm walked on water…and even more so when they prevailed in the case!
